Halfway between Casablanca and Rabat, Mohammedia is an ideal attracting point due to its industrial dedication acquired throughout several years. Supported by its oil shipping port and high-standard infrastructure, Mohammedia ensures balance between living quality and economic competitiveness.
Initially named Fedala, Mohammedia city emerged by the advert of Spanish, Genoese and Venetian merchants since the 14th century. It attained its golden age after the construction of a fortress by Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah in 1773, serving then as grain silo. Its port, constructed in 1914, became first and most modern oil shipping port in North Africa.
Fedala port, built in 1914, became in 1955 the first and the most modern oil carrier hosting facility in North Africa. The City's role as harbor has rapidly doubled through beachfront and tourism dedications thanks to its charming beaches and geographic position between Casablanca and Rabat.
In June 25, 1960, Fedala had a new name “Mohammedia” in tribute to His Majesty King Mohammed V, symbol of the Moroccan independence.
